“I genuinely could not have asked for a kinder, more patient, or more talented artist to work with!!! My roommate had designed a tattoo for us to get after graduation, and Matt was the perfect artist for us. He was active in communication, listened to exactly what we wanted (and made every minute detail we requested), and his linework is nothing short of spectacular. I couldn’t stop my leg from twitching while he was tattooing, and he never made me feel bad, and joked with me through it. Incredibly personable and genuine person!! His studio was beautiful, clean, private, and felt incredibly safe for two young women to get our artwork. He was thorough with his recommendations for aftercare, even for the two of us who both have quite a few other tattoos. Our tattoos healed beautifully! “I'm in love with my new tattoo! The amount of detail and care placed into creating it were phenomenal. I searched for an artist for a long time before I finally found Matt. His work/designs, aesthetics, professionalism, consistency, and brand/presence were solid and exactly what I was looking for. “This was my first tattoo and I was very nervous especially since I knew that I wanted to get my tattoo in a difficult location. I researched so many artists because I wanted my tattoo experience to be a good one. When I first came across Matt's work I was amazed at the amount of detail and precision in each of his tattoos. I also loved that he is an artist and posted some of his artwork. Communication was all done through email and he was very accommodating on any request or changes that I wanted to make to the tattoo. The tattoo experience was great, we went over different size options and he made sure that the tattoo was in the right spot. "I have been tattooed many times before, but this was by far the easiest process I’ve ever had. Before the tattoo was decided on, I was immediately at ease. He worked with me on design options, we talked about sizing and placement as well as scheduling all beforehand.
Upon arrival, the studio is comfortable and shows remarkable examples of his work. I was excited and looking forward to the piece, but when I saw his gun, I got more excited. He has beautiful equipment.
Since receiving my art, the healing process has been super easy. I have had no complications whatsoever. I couldn’t be happier.

"I heard of Matt through a new coworker. We (my coworker & I) were talking about tattoos and I had mentioned I wanted to add on to my current tattoo and my coworker mentioned she had just gotten a new one. She showed me her tattoo and I was super blown away by the work that was done! She gave me Matt's Instagram and I checked it out. I saw his work and was sold immediately, it was extremely impressive.
I reached out to Matt and he responded quickly. I gave him my ideas for the tattoo and we went back and forth about it, talking details. He even gave me some of his ideas to make the tattoo "pop" a little more- he is very invested in making sure the tattoo is quality work.
His studio is extremely clean and aesthetically pleasing. Throughout the process he made sure sanitary/ safety protocols were followed to a T, which was comforting. He checked in with me regularly to make sure I was comfortable. He also has a great sense of humor which made the process go faster. It was an all around positive experience.

"All communication was done via email, however, Zig’s replies were timely, honest, and very informative. He took my idea and turned it into a beautiful fine line tattoo that fit into my budget. My tattoo experience was excellent, Zig was open and honest about tattooing in his home studio from the start. I found it to be more comfortable than your usual tattoo shop, it was very clean and comfortable, I brought my blanket, water, headphones, and lunch and made myself at home. My tattoo was scheduled for a full day but nothing was ever rushed, the whole day was explained, the new/packaged needles were shown and opened in front of me, and multiple breaks were allowed for both of us. The aftercare instructions were given as Zig cleaned and wrapped my tattoo but it was also given to me on paper to reference later, he provided his email and phone number for any questions or concerns. Although I haven't needed to contact him, I would feel very comfortable doing so if needed. I am more than satisfied with my tattoo, I plan to return to have more added to this piece very soon. I highly recommend Zig for anyone’s tattoo needs!”

"I have been getting tattooed since 1999, in locations across the country, and I can honestly say this was the best tattoo experience I’ve ever had. I found Zig on Instagram- I had been searching for an artist to do a large thigh piece (the largest tattoo I’ve had to date) and knew his style of realism and fine line was exactly what I was looking for.
Communication from the beginning was timely, straight forward and professional. The studio was immaculately clean, great music playing, smelled wonderful, calm, and very comfortable. I was given the run down of how the day was going to go, not rushed when choosing exactly what size and placement I wanted, shown all of the clean packaged needles, just top notch care from beginning to end. Aftercare instructions were the best I’ve ever had, Zig takes his time making sure you know how to care for your new ink once you get home. I’m several days post tattoo writing this and so far it’s the best healing process I’ve ever experienced as well. Very little soreness, zero swelling, and I love the saniderm bandage approach to healing at home. The tattoo itself is more beautiful than I imagined it would be.
From start to finish, I cannot say enough kind things about this experience and I can’t wait to come back!”

"This was my first tattoo so I was quite nervous about how it was going to go. I already knew what kind of design I wanted and knew it was going to be difficult for the artist since it was in a difficult spot plus the amount of detail. When I came across Matt's Instagram I was blown away by his art and was surprised he hasn’t blown up yet. I followed his website and sent him a tattoo inquiry and in less than 24 hours he responded. He was professional and easy to communicate with. I was being difficult with the design and asked him to change it 3 times however he was patient and professional with me and did the changes very quickly. Upon the actual appointment, he was welcoming and professional. He made sure that I was aware of everything that was going on in the process. Actually getting the tattoo, Matt knew that it was my first tattoo and checked up on me often to see if I was okay or needed anything. There were a couple of times when I was being difficult but he stayed focused the whole time. Seeing the final product of the tattoo DEFINITELY exceeded my expectations. I didn't know a tattoo could be so detailed. After the tattoo, he was very descriptive about the after-care instructions and made sure I understood everything, even showed me different examples of aftercare tattoo ointment. "I’ve had such an amazing tattoo experience with Matt! I had looked through lots of artists and when I saw his work, I knew I wanted him to be the one to tattoo me. I had a big idea, and he absolutely blew me away with the result! His communication was always professional, thorough, and direct. “As someone getting their first tattoo, I did a lot of research into the look and style of many different tattoos and tattoo artists. I knew the idea of what I wanted but knowing that an artist will be the one creating and doing the tattoo, I wanted the art to be original and something that whoever I found had created. Instagram was key in my research and I was able to narrow it down to a preferred style that I was repeatedly drawn to. Physical studio location wasn't as crucial to me but in the surrounding area (IL, IN, IA) would be a plus. As I searched and clicked on images, Matt's site kept popping up and I looked at it every single time. Every image was exactly the style I was looking for, delicate and detailed. Luckily he also is local to Champaign which was perfect. The form on his site that's used to submit an inquiry was easy and straightforward and Matt responded within a couple days. We discussed via email the things I was looking for and he got to work. I think it was about a week later he sent the first draft. He explained what he was able to include and what didn't fit with the size restriction. Everything made sense and I loved what he came up with, I had no edits, I trusted his work. I was able to get scheduled shortly after. Matt offered an in person consultation since the studio is in his home but I felt our exchange via email worked for me. I asked a couple of questions prior to the day and Matt responded quickly and thoroughly. On the day of, his studio was easy to find, professionally set up, spotless, and very comfortable overall. The whole experience really exceeded my expectations. Matt, his process, communication, and studio were all easy, comfortable, and professional. Aftercare was straightforward and easy to follow, it healed quickly and looks great today! Overall the tattoo and the experience is exactly what I wanted and I love it! I will likely get another in the near future!”
